The board features an 18% reflective grey surface on one side and a 90% reflective white surface on the reverse. Both sides have been scientifically prepared to be spectrally neutral, reflecting light in the same way in any conditions.
Take a test shot of the Grey Balance Board at the start of a photo session using your camera’s custom neutral balance setting – you can then set the camera to use this balance for subsequent shots. Test shots of the Grey Balance Board can also be used for post-capture editing within Photoshop.

The ColorChecker Grey Balance Mini is the smaller version of the standard-sized grey balance card, measuring only 63.5 x 109.0mm.
Using the ColorChecker Grey Balance Mini for reflective spot exposure metering will give you the confidence that your images will be exposed as accurately as possible. The ColorChecker Grey Balance Mini is a pocket-size version of the 18% grey reference square in the standard 24-patch ColorChecker. The grey is scientifically engineered to provide a precise uniform surface that is spectrally neutral, meaning it reflects equal amounts of red, blue and green in all types of light conditions.
